Graham Construction Secures Contract for Memorial Drive Extension in Calgary

Graham Construction has been awarded the contract for the Memorial Drive extension project in Calgary, aimed at enhancing mobility and connectivity in the region.

CALGARY, ALTA. — Graham Construction has been appointed as the general contractor for the Memorial Drive extension project in Calgary, Alberta. This initiative is designed to extend Memorial Drive eastward, facilitating improved mobility for the burgeoning communities in southeast Calgary and enhancing travel connections throughout the city. According to an official release, the project will consist of several key components including: two single-span box girder bridges measuring 30 meters each, a two-span post-tensioned bridge that spans 97 meters equipped with two-meter NU girders, earthworks, Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) walls, noise walls, various roadworks, deep utility installations, utility relocations, the construction of a storm pond, and landscaping efforts. Construction is set to commence this summer, with an anticipated completion date in the fall of 2028. The City of Calgary has highlighted that in November 2024, the city council approved funding amounting to $60 million to propel the Memorial Drive Extension project forward. Furthermore, in November 2025, city administration recommended an additional $45 million be allocated for consideration during the 2026 budget review. The overall estimated cost for the project stands at $105 million, indicating a significant investment in the infrastructure of the area.
