OTTAWA — The Insulating Concrete Forms Manufacturers Association (ICFMA) has officially appointed James (Jim) Facette as its new executive director. This decision was announced during the board's in-person meeting held in Toronto, where directors gathered to welcome Facette and discuss an initial report regarding the advancement of the association's new three-year strategic plan. Facette, who is based in Ottawa, brings with him a wealth of experience, having spent 25 years in leadership roles, including president/CEO and executive director of various Canadian industry associations. He is also bilingual, speaking both English and French.Mike Kennaw, chair of the ICFMA board of directors, expressed enthusiasm about Facette’s appointment, stating, "We are excited Jim has joined us at a time when we build out ICFMA to a new chapter of its life." Since his arrival at the association in August, Facette has engaged in extensive discussions with all eight board directors and has initiated meetings with industry stakeholders as part of a structured process for strategic planning.
The new strategic plan aims to leverage ICFMA's well-established technical credibility, which includes the significant NFPA 285 fire testing study conducted in collaboration with the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association. The plan is focused on expanding the overall Insulating Concrete Forms (ICF) market across North America. Key priorities outlined in the plan include broadening the association's membership base, enhancing advocacy efforts concerning building codes and regulatory issues in both Canada and the United States, and positioning ICFMA as the leading authority on the ICF industry within both countries.
Facette’s leadership is expected to guide the ICFMA through this transformative phase, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and stakeholder engagement in achieving the association’s goals. As the ICFMA embarks on this strategic journey, the emphasis will be on creating a robust framework that supports the growth and development of the ICF sector, which is poised for increased recognition and adoption in the construction industry.
