Pomerleau Acquires Groupe ALLEN to Enhance Water Infrastructure Capabilities

Pomerleau has finalized its acquisition of Quebec's Groupe ALLEN, strengthening its position in the water infrastructure sector amid growing investment needs.

MONTREAL — Pomerleau has successfully completed its acquisition of Groupe ALLEN, a Quebec-based general contractor known for its specialization in water treatment, process mechanics, directional drilling, formwork, and earthworks. The acquisition is viewed as a strategic move as the demand for investment in water infrastructure is anticipated to rise in the coming decades, driven by factors such as aging assets, population growth, and changing environmental regulations.
In an official release, Pomerleau stated that by merging their respective expertise, both companies will be better equipped to assist communities in modernizing these crucial infrastructure assets. Following the acquisition, Groupe ALLEN will operate as a subsidiary of Pomerleau, retaining its name and the existing leadership and management structure that have contributed to its success.
Philippe Adam, the president and Chief Executive Officer of Pomerleau, expressed confidence in the partnership, noting that recent collaborations have highlighted the complementary nature of their expertise and the alignment of their corporate values and long-term goals. He emphasized that together, the two companies will be more capable of addressing the increasing infrastructure needs of Quebec’s communities.
Adam further stated, “Our objective remains to build on Groupe ALLEN’s strong foundations and support the next stage of its growth while preserving the strengths that have made it successful.”
Canaccord Genuity Group Inc. served as the mergers and acquisitions adviser for the sellers during the transaction, although the financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
This acquisition aligns with the broader trend within the construction industry, particularly in the water infrastructure sector, where increasing investment is essential to address modern challenges. With aging infrastructure and a growing population, the demand for effective solutions in water management and treatment is expected to escalate, making this merger strategically significant for both companies involved.
