Augmenta Recognized as a Key Innovator in Tech by Fast Company

Augmenta has been honored by Fast Company as one of the 'Next Big Things in Tech' for its innovative use of spatial AI in construction, significantly enhancing efficiency in electrical system design.

Augmenta has received notable recognition from Fast Company, being listed among its 2026 'Next Big Things in Tech.' This annual recognition highlights technologies poised to transform entire industries, with Augmenta's proprietary spatial AI technology being particularly noted for its capability to generate 3D electrical system designs, thereby reducing the time and effort contractors expend on modeling intricate building systems. Fast Company emphasized that Augmenta's innovations contribute to waste reduction and improved profitability for contractors.
One of the highlighted projects that exemplifies this achievement is an elementary school constructed in 2024, where Augmenta's platform managed to decrease material waste by 15% and cut down design time by 25%. This project stands as a testament to the effectiveness of Augmenta’s technology, especially considering it was completed using an earlier iteration of their platform. The advancements made over the past two years have further enhanced the platform's capabilities.
E-J Electric Installation Co., a top contractor ranked in the ENR Top 50, recently utilized the Augmenta Construction Platform (ACP) for a hyperscale data center exceeding 1 million square feet. The initial estimation for model population stood at approximately 693 hours; however, E-J Electric was able to accomplish this task in just 82 hours with the assistance of ACP, reflecting an impressive 8.5-fold increase in workflow efficiency compared to conventional methods. In the context of a data center project, the model plays a critical role in guiding procurement, logistics, fabrication, and installation processes. Prolonged model population delays can significantly hinder the overall project timeline.
Tom Kregel, Executive Vice President at E-J Electric, elaborated on the time savings realized through the use of ACP, stating, “By automating time-intensive modeling tasks, our teams can focus on coordination, shop drawings, and prefabrication, allowing us to deploy larger numbers of field craft earlier in the project.” This shift underscores the value of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) teams, who can redirect their efforts towards more impactful tasks rather than manual routing of conduit and rack layouts.
The Augmenta Construction Platform employs proprietary spatial AI to create building systems with the level of precision that the construction industry necessitates. It empowers VDC teams to analyze 3D environments, navigate obstructions, and generate routing options that can adapt as project conditions evolve. By aligning closely with the actual geometry and constructability requirements of each project, the models are tailored for optimal efficiency from the outset.
Currently, ACP is being deployed in a variety of large, mission-critical projects throughout the United States. Augmenta expressed gratitude to Fast Company for this recognition and acknowledged the contributions of its customers, partners, and the dedicated Augmenta team in shaping the future of the construction industry, one of the oldest sectors in the world.
