Beachlands Development in Colwood Achieves Major Infrastructure Milestone

The Beachlands development project in Colwood, B.C. has surpassed $150 million in infrastructure investment, marking a significant step in the creation of a new waterfront community.

COLWOOD, B.C. – The Beachlands development, a significant $1.2 billion project located on Metchosin Road in Victoria, has reached a crucial milestone with over $150 million invested in infrastructure as of June 19, 2026. This development, spearheaded by Seacliff Properties and Reliance Properties, is set to transform a 134-acre waterfront area into a vibrant community. Construction on the Beachlands project commenced in 2024, and since then, the developers have successfully completed vital site servicing along with public infrastructure enhancements. This includes the development of more than 1.8 kilometres of roads, sidewalks, bike lanes, and the installation of underground utilities, as reported in a recent release. The zoning regulations have paved the way for the construction of 2,850 homes on the site, which will encompass a mix of single detached homes, townhomes, and condominiums. Additionally, the development will feature commercial and retail spaces, community gathering areas, and various amenities designed to foster a sense of community. The announcement of the infrastructure investment coincided with the completion and opening of the first phase of The Beachlands Park. This first segment represents the beginning of a planned 47-acre public park network, which will account for 35 percent of the total site area, providing much-needed green space for residents and visitors alike. The next phase of park improvements, covering an additional 12 acres, is set to begin this summer as part of the Bluffs neighbourhood. This phase will include the construction of the Bluff Lookout and the Beachlands Amphitheatre. Furthermore, the Bluffs neighbourhood will also feature ‘Origin at The Beachlands,’ a project currently under construction that includes two six-storey condominium buildings alongside 16 townhomes, with an expected completion date in 2027. Plans are also underway for future phases of The Beachlands, which may include the addition of a hotel, further enhancing the appeal of this waterfront community. The Beachlands project is positioned to become a key player in the region’s development landscape, promoting growth and sustainability in Colwood.
