Bird Construction Secures $1 Billion in Project Contracts Across Multiple Sectors

Bird Construction Inc. announces significant project awards totaling approximately $1 billion, spanning various sectors including nuclear, marine, industrial, and educational infrastructure across Canada.

MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — Bird Construction Inc. has announced a series of project awards and agreements with a combined value of around $1 billion, emphasizing its diverse capabilities across several sectors including nuclear, civil, marine, and mining infrastructure, as well as industrial maintenance and building projects.
The company has been designated as the preferred negotiating proponent for a long-term contract in the nuclear sector; however, details regarding the project owner and specifics of the project have not been disclosed at this time, according to a company release.
In British Columbia, Bird’s subsidiary FRPD has been chosen to undertake substantial marine and dredging operations, leveraging one of Bird’s specialized self-performing business units. This selection highlights Bird’s strong position in the marine construction sector.
Additionally, Bird’s Industrial Maintenance division has secured a new three-year contract focused on furnace maintenance, alongside a renewed three-year agreement for electrical, instrumentation, insulation, and mechanical services with several long-time industrial clients. These contracts illustrate Bird’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing its relationships within the industrial sector.
In northern Québec, Bird Heavy Civil is poised to collaborate with an Indigenous-led partnership to deliver a major site earthworks and underground services package for a significant mining development. This partnership exemplifies Bird’s dedication to supporting Indigenous communities while engaging in large-scale infrastructure projects.
Moreover, Bird Industrial has been tapped to construct a new liquefied petroleum gas rail loading facility for a Canadian energy infrastructure client located in Alberta. This comprehensive project encompasses civil earthworks, underground utilities, piling, module fabrication and installation, piping, mechanical and electrical systems, as well as operations support buildings, showcasing Bird’s extensive expertise in energy infrastructure.
Bird Buildings has also been awarded a contract for developing a food production facility for a new client situated in Eastern Canada. This project aligns with Bird’s strategy to diversify its portfolio in the construction sector.
Furthermore, Concert-Bird Partners, a consortium that includes Bird Capital Limited Partnership, Bird Design-Build Construction Inc., Wright Construction Western Inc., Concert Infrastructure Ltd., Ainsworth Inc., and BR2 Architecture Inc., has successfully reached financial closure for a design-build-finance-maintain contract concerning the construction of seven new schools in Alberta. This public-private partnership aims to deliver approximately 524,000 square feet of permanent educational space across Calgary, Chestermere, and Edmonton, emphasizing Bird’s involvement in educational infrastructure development.
