Celebrating Excellence in Agricultural Construction: CFBA Awards Recognize Top Projects

The CFBA Awards recently honored outstanding agricultural construction projects, showcasing innovative designs and craftsmanship by its members.

STRATFORD, ONT. — The Canadian Farm Builders Association (CFBA) recently held its annual awards ceremony at the Arden Park Best Western Hotel in Stratford, Ontario, highlighting exemplary construction projects undertaken by its members. During this event, a total of twenty awards were distributed across ten distinct building categories, acknowledging the hard work and creativity in the agricultural construction sector.
The evaluation process for submissions was rigorous, with a panel of judges assessing each entry based on established scoring criteria. Projects were awarded Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals. In addition, the top three buildings were recognized in the Member’s Choice Competition, where winners were selected through a ranked ballot voted on by CFBA members during the association's conference.
The prestigious Glen White Project of the Year Award was granted to Skyfall Stable with Loft, a project by Dutch Masters Design & Construction Services. This impressive structure encompasses a four-stall stable with a total area of 4,910 square feet, featuring a loft measuring 49 feet by 58 feet. Notable amenities include a wash-bay, a feed area, and a spacious tack room. The design incorporates natural wood finishes along with tumbled pavers to evoke an “old world charm.” The CFBA highlighted the building's covered canopies, which provide shelter and include a shaded dog run. The stable's exterior features a monochromatic color scheme that pays homage to the nearby escarpment.
Site preparation for the Skyfall Stable involved relocating young trees to create visual buffers around the property. Additionally, a new driveway loop was constructed for easier access to the stable and surrounding paddocks, accommodating trailers and equipment.
The Member’s Choice Competition also recognized Vanderlaan Construction Ltd. for their Farm Store/Office project. This facility encompasses an 800-square-foot retail store and reception area, alongside three offices, one of which includes a meeting room. The design features a lunch/boardroom equipped with a large kitchen and island, an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue, a scale room for managing deliveries, and a 300-square-foot cooler room.
Another notable winner in the Member’s Choice Competition was Post Structures Inc., awarded for their Wedding Barn project. This undertaking involved the adaptive reuse of a late-1800s Ontario bank barn, transforming a historic agricultural building into a fully compliant commercial assembly space. The project successfully preserved the original heavy-timber frame and stone foundation while upgrading the structure to meet modern occupancy safety standards. A new timber roof system was integrated with the existing framing to enhance the building's structural integrity.
Further details about the remaining 2026 CFBA Awards recipients can be found through their official channels, as the association continues to celebrate excellence in agricultural construction.
