Doka Canada Expands Footprint in Metro Vancouver with New Lease on Annacis Island

Doka Canada Ltd. has signed a 10-year lease on a 15-acre property on Annacis Island, doubling its operational footprint in Metro Vancouver. This move is part of Grosvenor Property Canada’s strategy to capitalize on strong demand for industrial spaces in the region.

Grosvenor Property Canada (GPC) has secured its second significant industrial deal on Annacis Island this year, with Doka Canada Ltd. committing to a 10-year lease at 830 Carlisle Street, effective this month. This 15-acre site, which was previously home to Russel Metals, will facilitate Doka's ongoing expansion within Western Canada, effectively doubling the company's current operational footprint in Metro Vancouver. Doka stands as a prominent global provider of formwork and scaffolding systems tailored for the construction sector. Grosvenor is currently utilizing Doka's formwork solutions in the master-planned Brentwood Block community in Burnaby. Robert Duteau, Executive Vice President of Investment at Grosvenor Property Canada, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "Doka is an exceptional global company with a long history of supporting some of the world's most ambitious construction projects. The fact that we are working with Doka both as a tenant and as a trusted construction partner speaks to the quality of their products and their reputation within the industry. It's rewarding to see this evolution of our partnership." Doka operates in over 60 countries and is a subsidiary of Austria's Umdasch Group, providing engineering and formwork solutions for major infrastructure, commercial, and residential projects across the globe. Gunnar Falke, the CEO of Doka Canada Ltd., remarked that the new facility on Annacis Island represents a crucial milestone for the company's growth in Western Canada. He noted, "This investment reflects our confidence in the ongoing strength of British Columbia's construction sector and reinforces Doka's commitment to being close to our customers, helping them meet evolving project demands with innovative formwork and scaffolding solutions." This lease agreement follows a June deal between Grosvenor and S&S Activewear, also located on Annacis Island, amidst a backdrop of strong demand for industrial spaces in the area, which is challenged by limited supply. Grosvenor's involvement on Annacis Island dates back to 1952, marking its first significant international investment. The company now manages a total of 185 acres on the island, encompassing both industrial and mixed-use properties.
