Ontario Government Announces Over $1 Billion Investment for New Schools and Child Care Spaces

The Ontario government is investing over $1 billion to create new student and child care spaces across the province, including several new school projects in Simcoe County.

BRADFORD, ONT. — The Ontario government has unveiled plans to enhance educational infrastructure by introducing 18,300 new student spaces and 1,130 licensed child care spaces this fall across various communities in the province. This initiative is backed by an impressive investment exceeding $1 billion, aimed at establishing 35 new and expanded schools ready to accommodate students in their corridors. A notable project included in this initiative is the newly constructed St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Elementary School, which is set to welcome over 500 students and offer 49 licensed child care spaces. This $27.9 million investment is designed to support the increasing enrolment numbers in Simcoe County.
In addition, the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is preparing to welcome students to the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Elementary School in Tottenham, which represents a $28.2 million investment that will serve over 500 students and provide 49 licensed child care spaces. Furthermore, the Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Bradford West Gwillimbury is expanding its facilities with a $10.9 million addition that will create 276 additional student spaces.
Beyond these projects, five additional school projects have recently received funding approval at various locations within the English-language school board, with plans to open in the coming years.
