Sener Marks a Decade of Engineering Innovation in Canada

International engineering firm Sener commemorates ten years in Canada, highlighting its contributions to major transport projects across the country.

TORONTO — Sener, an international engineering and technology firm, is proudly marking the tenth anniversary of its establishment in Canada. Since launching its operations in 2016, Sener has played a significant role during one of Canada's largest investment phases in the transformation of its transport networks. The company has developed a wide range of multidisciplinary capabilities that encompass various stages of the infrastructure lifecycle, including planning, design, systems integration, risk management, safety, and support throughout construction and commissioning processes.
One of Sener’s notable early achievements was its involvement in the Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, which is now recognized as Line 6 of the Toronto Transit Commission's network. The firm was responsible for the engineering design of the line and its systems, collaborating closely with construction partners to ensure successful overall integration. The Finch West line spans 10.3 kilometers and links Finch West Station to Humber College, featuring 16 at-grade stops and two underground stations.
In addition to the Finch West LRT, Sener is actively engaged in other significant projects, including the Ontario Line and the Scarborough Subway Extension. For the Scarborough Subway Extension, Sener is functioning as the lead engineering firm during the delivery phase of the stations, track, and systems contract. The firm is providing comprehensive design services across various engineering disciplines, such as architecture, structural engineering, electromechanical systems, geotechnical engineering, ventilation, electrification, signaling and rail control, communications, and track systems. Moreover, Sener is tasked with overseeing systems integration and ensuring safety certification.
In the province of Quebec, Sener has made substantial contributions to the development of Montreal's Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) as an independent checking engineer for several sections of the network. The phased opening of REM segments has coincided with the expansion of Sener's operations in Quebec, leading to the establishment of a permanent office in Montreal.
Further extending its reach, Sener has acted as an independent safety advisor for the extensions to the Confederation and Trillium lines in Ottawa. The company has also marked its presence in Alberta through its work on the Valley Line in Edmonton. With offices located in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Vancouver, Sener is well-positioned to support various infrastructure projects across Canada.
Lope Seco, the country manager of Sener in Canada, commented on the company's journey, stating, 'These ten years are the result of trust-based relationships, built project by project, close collaboration with our partners and clients and, above all, the commitment of a team that understands the needs and priorities of Canadian cities. We want to continue bringing engineering, innovation and integration capabilities to help develop mobility that is more connected, efficient and ready for the future.'
