International design firm Ware Malcomb has opened a new office in Vancouver, appointing David O’Regan as studio manager to lead local architectural efforts.

VANCOUVER – Ware Malcomb, an international design firm, has officially established a new office in Vancouver, marking a significant step in its expansion within Canada. The firm has also announced the appointment of David O’Regan as the studio manager for architecture in this new location. In this capacity, O’Regan will be tasked with building and managing the architecture team while enhancing Ware Malcomb’s footprint in the western Canadian market, according to a company release.
David O’Regan, a native of Vancouver and a licensed architect, brings over 17 years of architectural experience to his new role. His background includes delivering a variety of complex projects in sectors such as health care, industrial, retail, and commercial across Canada. Frank Di Roma, regional vice-president for Ware Malcomb, highlighted O’Regan’s comprehensive knowledge of the local market and his extensive national experience, stating that these attributes position him well to support the firm’s clients and projects in the region.
The new office will be situated at 800-525 West 8th Avenue. Christina Kolkas, a principal at Ware Malcomb, commented on the strategic importance of establishing a permanent presence in Vancouver, emphasizing that it allows the firm to better serve its valued clients not only in British Columbia but across Canada. She noted that this expansion bolsters the company’s capability to support a diverse array of national and international accounts while continuing to build on the innovative projects they have already executed in the region.
Ware Malcomb has a history of successful projects in the Vancouver area. Notable examples include the Riverbend Multistorey in Burnaby, B.C., where the firm provided architectural design services for a substantial 707,056 square foot, two-level industrial project on a 23.45-acre site for Oxford Properties. Another key project is the Scotiabank Lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver, which involved the interior fit-out of a 2,950 square foot bank branch within a new mixed-use development, encompassing a full spectrum of interior design and engineering services.
With existing offices in Vaughan, Toronto, and Ottawa, Ware Malcomb’s expansion into Vancouver is a calculated move to strengthen its Canadian operations. The firm aims to leverage the dynamic economy of Vancouver and its talented workforce to foster continued growth and enhance service delivery to its clients. This strategic expansion reflects the company’s commitment to embracing opportunities within the rapidly evolving Canadian construction landscape.
