WSP Global Inc. to Acquire GCM Corpo Inc. in Strategic Move to Enhance Engineering Capabilities

WSP Global Inc. has announced its agreement to acquire GCM Corpo Inc., expanding its engineering consulting services in Canada, particularly in the energy and industrial sectors.

MONTREAL — WSP Global Inc. has announced a significant step in its growth strategy by entering into an agreement to acquire GCM Corpo Inc., a Canadian firm that specializes in engineering consulting and services for the energy and industrial sectors. The acquisition will bolster WSP’s footprint across Canada, enhancing its core engineering consulting business and providing broader access to clients within the energy and industrial landscapes, which include original equipment manufacturers.
GCM Corpo is noted for its substantial presence in Québec, Western Canada, and Atlantic Canada, employing approximately 600 professionals who serve a diverse array of markets, including energy, industrial, and mining and metals. This acquisition is expected to enhance WSP’s capabilities in several key areas, including process engineering, industrial digitalization, operational technology (OT) cybersecurity, project and construction management, project procurement, detailed engineering, and environmental services.
Alexandre L’Heureux, the president and CEO of WSP, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, "GCM Corpo is highly complementary to WSP and a strong strategic fit for our business. Canada’s energy and industrial sectors are evolving rapidly, driving demand for the scale, technology, and expertise needed to support growth. Welcoming GCM Corpo will enhance our position across the energy and industrial value chain and expand our ability to partner with clients on some of the country’s most important and complex projects."
He further emphasized that this strategic move reflects WSP’s strong confidence in Canada’s long-term potential as a leader in the energy, industrial, and mining sectors. The acquisition is not only expected to grow WSP’s consulting capabilities but also to position the company as a key player in supporting the evolving needs of these critical sectors.
Jonathan Clément, the president of GCM Corpo, shared his perspective on the merger, stating, "As we considered the next chapter for GCM Corpo, it became clear that joining WSP would allow us to accelerate the momentum we have created and pursue our ambitions from an even stronger position. WSP shares our roots, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to technical excellence. We believe joining forces will allow us to build on the strengths and culture that have made GCM Corpo successful, while creating new opportunities for our people and delivering even greater value to our clients."
The completion of the transaction is contingent upon customary closing conditions, which include regulatory approval. The acquisition is anticipated to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, marking a significant milestone in WSP’s strategic expansion efforts in the Canadian market.
