Aecon Group Inc. has announced significant alliance contracts with Metrolinx for the GO Expansion project, enhancing transit infrastructure in Ontario.

Toronto, Ontario – August 27, 2026: Aecon Group Inc. (TSX: ARE) has made headlines today with the announcement that ONxpress Civils Contractor General Partnership, a joint venture equally split between Aecon and FCC Canada, has entered into alliance contracts with Metrolinx for the GO Expansion project, which represents a multi-billion-dollar investment in Ontario's transit infrastructure. This significant development will see Aecon add $649 million to its Construction segment backlog in the third quarter of 2026, following an earlier addition of $65 million in the second quarter of the same year.

Initial construction efforts are underway at the Durham College Oshawa GO Station, alongside essential civil works, track improvements, and enhancements along the Lakeshore East line.

Their portfolio features successful implementations of the Waterloo LRT, Finch West LRT, and Eglinton Crosstown LRT, which are noted as the first three modern LRTs in Ontario. Furthermore, Aecon has been actively involved in the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) Advance Tunnel project and is currently executing the ECWE Elevated Guideway project, along with the Scarborough Subway Extension and Yonge North Subway Extension Advance Tunnel projects.
