Aecon Group Inc. has become the first construction company in Canada to achieve Gold Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations Certification from the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business, reflecting its commitment to fostering strong relationships with Indigenous communities.

On September 17, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario, Aecon Group Inc. (TSX: ARE) announced a significant achievement: it has attained Gold Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations Certification from the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB). This milestone makes Aecon the first construction company operating on a national level in Canada to reach the highest certification level in the PAIR program, which has been the leading Indigenous relations certification initiative in Canada for the past 25 years.
The PAIR program is designed for organizations that are dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships and promoting economic participation with Indigenous Peoples, businesses, and communities. To achieve this certification, companies undergo a thorough evaluation process that includes independent third-party verification and assessment by a jury of Indigenous business leaders. The evaluation focuses on four critical areas: Leadership Actions, Employment, Business Development, and Community Relationships.

Aecon’s Gold Certification comes on the heels of its Silver Certification obtained in 2023, marking a transition from the initial implementation phase to a deeper integration of Indigenous relations into the company’s daily operations. Currently, more than 300 companies are participants in the PAIR certification program, indicating a growing commitment across the industry towards Indigenous relations.
This certification is part of Aecon’s broader Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which was developed in response to Call to Action #92 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. The RAP is structured around five key pillars: Leadership, Respect, Recognition, Commitment, and Empowerment. It has driven measurable progress, including the procurement of over $1 billion from Indigenous businesses, the establishment of long-standing partnerships led by Indigenous communities, and the adoption of an Indigenous Procurement Policy.
