D.R. Horton Partners with Promise Robotics to Enhance Homebuilding Production with AI Technology

D.R. Horton has entered a multi-year agreement with Promise Robotics to leverage advanced AI-driven production capabilities, aiming to build over 1,250 homes while improving efficiency and scalability in the U.S. homebuilding market.

On October 13, 2026, Promise Robotics, an innovator in the homebuilding sector utilizing physical AI, announced a significant multi-year commercial partnership with D.R. Horton, the largest homebuilder in the United States by volume. This collaboration marks D.R. Horton as the first major homebuilder in the U.S. to implement Promise Robotics’ Factory-as-a-Service® (FaaS) capabilities, which are designed to streamline the production of over 1,250 homes.
The Factory-as-a-Service model offers homebuilders a comprehensive production platform that transforms existing home designs into a coordinated manufacturing and installation process. This platform integrates robotic manufacturing, factory operations, and onsite installation, allowing builders to access automated production capabilities without the need to develop and manage their own manufacturing facilities. This development is particularly vital as the homebuilding industry faces ongoing challenges such as high housing demand, labor shortages, and escalating costs.
Ramtin Attar, CEO and co-founder of Promise Robotics, emphasized the need for a shift in homebuilding production infrastructure, stating, "Homebuilding has long lacked the production infrastructure needed to scale with the speed, predictability, and efficiency of modern manufacturing. Physical AI changes that by creating a new production model that can expand capacity within and across markets." Attar’s vision is to make this advanced capability accessible to builders throughout North America to foster long-term growth in the industry.
D.R. Horton is committed to exploring innovative solutions that enhance its building processes. Brad Conlon, Senior Vice President of Strategic Growth and Innovation at D.R. Horton, highlighted the company's ongoing efforts to improve cycle times and production capacity. "Promise Robotics’ integrated platform gives us a new capability to support those goals," he remarked.
Promise Robotics utilizes AI technology throughout the homebuilding process by interpreting existing designs, generating production plans, and orchestrating robotic manufacturing. This integrated approach aims to streamline production rather than automating isolated tasks.
As part of its expansion into the U.S. market, Promise Robotics is set to open a new manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona, with operations expected to commence in early 2027. This factory is a crucial step in establishing a scalable production network intended to support a diverse range of homebuilders across multiple markets.
The company anticipates onboarding additional builders as it expands its presence across the United States, which will also create local employment opportunities in manufacturing and operations roles.
Promise Robotics is focused on building the physical AI infrastructure that modernizes homebuilding. Its comprehensive production platform integrates AI, robotics, software, and manufacturing systems to connect the workflow from design translation to production planning and onsite installation. Through its Factory-as-a-Service model, Promise aims to empower homebuilders nationwide to access advanced production infrastructure without the associated costs and complexities of developing and operating it themselves.
