YORKTON, SASK. — Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) has officially inaugurated the expansion of its facility located in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. This upgraded complex now features a state-of-the-art pea protein production plant. Additionally, the existing canola processing site has undergone significant enhancements, resulting in a more than twofold increase in its crushing capacity, which has now surpassed two million metric tons.
Premier Scott Moe highlighted the substantial nature of this investment, stating, "This massive investment in Saskatchewan will not only bring more jobs and opportunities to the region, but it will also provide a convenient and profitable outlet for Saskatchewan’s agricultural producers to sell their commodities." This sentiment underscores the importance of robust agricultural processing capabilities in the province, further establishing Saskatchewan as a prime location for agricultural investments.
According to the projections, by the end of 2026, the LDC complex in Yorkton is expected to employ a total of 260 individuals, which includes the addition of 140 new jobs.
