KAMLOOPS, B.C. โ The Government of British Columbia has unveiled a new affordable housing initiative with the launch of The Confluence, which will provide 165 new rental homes in the region. This development is part of a broader effort to add nearly 2,350 homes within Kamloops and the Tkโemlรบps te Secwepemc community. Located at 346 Campbell Avenue, The Confluence offers 80 affordable rental units aimed at supporting residents with low to moderate incomes, including seniors and families. According to a government release, 75% of these units feature two or three bedrooms, making them ideal for families in need of more space. The Confluence is a six-storey building situated on the North Shore of Kamloops, conveniently located near public transit, a medical centre, and various essential services. Residents are expected to begin moving into their new homes this month, marking a significant step in addressing local housing needs.
In addition to The Confluence, construction is also progressing on another housing project at 377 Tranquille Road, which will consist of 85 homes developed through the BC Builds program. This upcoming development will offer a variety of living arrangements, including studio apartments and three-bedroom homes. Once completed, these units will be managed by the newly established Kamloops Community Land Trust Foundation, an initiative by the City of Kamloops.
Completion of the Tranquille Road development is anticipated by late 2027, with further details to be released as the project nears its finish. Together, these developments represent a significant investment in affordable housing for the Kamloops area, addressing the pressing need for accessible rental options in the region.
