Kyle Lowry receives the Key to the City from Toronto's Mayor in recognition of his contributions to basketball and the community, celebrated during his Block Party event.

On September 19, 2026, the Mayor of Toronto bestowed the prestigious Key to the City upon Kyle Lowry, acknowledging his remarkable contributions both on the basketball court and within the community. The ceremony took place at Kyle's Block Party, a complimentary event hosted by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment at Maple Leaf Square, often referred to as 'Jurassic Park.' This celebration marked Lowry's impactful career with the Toronto Raptors and his deep connection with the fans.
Since joining the Raptors in 2012, Lowry has been a pivotal figure for the team throughout his nine seasons in Toronto. A six-time NBA All-Star, he has set franchise records in assists, steals, and three-point field goals. His leadership was instrumental in leading Toronto to its first NBA Championship in 2019, a victory that resonated throughout the city and the nation, uniting fans in joyous celebration.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Lowry, alongside his family, has made significant contributions to youth and families across Toronto through the Lowry Love Foundation. In a symbolic gesture earlier this summer, he signed a ceremonial one-day contract to retire officially as a Toronto Raptor. A significant milestone is set for January 10, 2027, when his jersey number, 7, will be retired and raised to the rafters at Scotiabank Arena.
