The Vancouver Regional Construction Association has announced the 2026 Silver Award winners, showcasing exceptional projects and teams advancing to the Gold Awards.

VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) has unveiled the winners of the 2026 Silver Awards, selected from an impressive 114 nominations across 19 categories. This recognition highlights outstanding projects and teams that will move forward to the next phase of the 37th Annual Awards of Excellence. According to a recent release, the nominated projects collectively boast a construction value nearing $4.9 billion. Jeannine Martin, president of the VRCA, commented on the submissions, stating, "This year’s response was a powerful reflection of the talent, the incredible work, and the sheer magnitude of economic impact being delivered by our members across the region." She emphasized the challenges faced by construction teams, including rising costs, strict timelines, and workforce issues. Despite these pressures, the Silver Award winners distinguished themselves in a competitive field, showcasing not only exceptional construction skills but also the collaboration and problem-solving abilities of the teams involved. The VRCA takes pride in celebrating the achievements of its members and the ongoing contributions they make to the Lower Mainland's construction landscape. The Silver Award winners are now set to compete for the Gold Awards, which will be announced during the VRCA's 37th Annual Awards of Excellence Gala scheduled for October 16. Tickets for the gala will be available for purchase starting August 18. Below is the list of this year’s Silver Award winners: In the category of General Contractor – Tenant Improvement – Up to $10M, Graham Construction was recognized for its work on the Vancouver Transit Centre (VTC) Skybridge SOGR, while EllisDon Corporation earned accolades for the UBC Urgent Primary Care Centre, and PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. was honored for the BCIT SE08 Central Heating Plant. For the General Contractor – Tenant Improvement – $10 – $30M category, ETRO Construction received recognition for Din Tai Fung Vancouver, PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. for the BCH Courtenay Building Upgrade, and CDC Construction Ltd. for Lily’s Community Health Centre. In the General Contractor – Tenant Improvement – Over $30M category, EllisDon Corporation was awarded for the Surrey Memorial Hospital – Cardiac Cath Lab & IR Suites, Ledcor Construction Limited for the Royal Centre Redevelopment – Phase 1, and Chandos Construction for the Centre of Excellence for Carbon Capture and Removal. The General Contractor – Civil/Industrial – Up to $30M category included winners such as Jacob Bros. Construction Inc. for the Burnaby Lake Pedestrian Overpass and Graham Infrastructure LP for the OMD Tank Farm Project. In the category of General Contractor – Civil/Industrial – Over $30M, Scott Construction Ltd. was recognized for the River District Permanent Energy Centre, and Peter Kiewit Sons ULC for the YVR North Runway Rehabilitation Program – Asphalt and Civil Package. In the up to $20M General Contractor category, Chandos Construction was awarded for the Bella Coola Centennial Pool. The General Contractor – $20 – $100M category saw Kinetic Construction Ltd. recognized for the SĆIȺNEW̱ SṮEȽIṮḴEȽ Elementary School, and Smith Bros. & Wilson awarded for the SkyTrain OMC 1 & 2 Maintenance Capacity Upgrade. In the over $100M General Contractor category, EllisDon Corporation was awarded for the Burnaby Hospital Redevelopment Phase 1 and Bird Construction Group for Lake City Studios. Trade Contractors also received recognition across various categories, including Maxwell Floors Ltd. for the FHA Surrey Memorial Hospital Cardiac Cath Lab & IR Suites and Flynn Canada Ltd. for the BCIT Student Housing Tall Timber Building. In the Mechanical Contractor categories, Black & McDonald Limited and Modern Niagara Vancouver Inc. were recognized for their projects, while electrical contractors like Mott Electric and Bridge Electric Corp. also received awards for their contributions. Manufacturers and suppliers such as FraserWood Industries Ltd. and Garibaldi Glass Industries, Inc. were acknowledged for their work on notable projects. The VRCA continues to showcase the talent and dedication of its members, with the upcoming gala promising to be a celebration of excellence in construction within the region.
