The project entails the construction of a new inspection building, the replacement of the weigh scale building, and the implementation of related site services, including both civil and electrical infrastructure. According to a recent release, the new station will adhere to modern security and safety standards to accommodate the increasing volume of vehicles that travel along Highway 97.
In addition to the replacement of the existing weigh scale building, the project will introduce a second building, which will enhance the operational capacity of the station. This expansion is vital as the Red Rock Commercial Vehicle Inspection Station serves as a key component of the provincial Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) inspection network. The station plays a pivotal role in regulating both private and commercial vehicles, thereby contributing significantly to road safety across British Columbia's highways.
The anticipated completion date for this project is set for December 2027. Notably, the construction is designed to proceed without disrupting traffic on Highway 97. Although the construction site will be closed to regular traffic, the CVSE will maintain a presence along the corridor to ensure safety and compliance during the construction phase.
