PCL Constructors Canada Inc. has been awarded a significant contract for the construction of CancerCare Manitoba's second facility, marking a crucial step in enhancing cancer care services in the province.

WINNIPEG — The Manitoba government has officially awarded the construction management contract for the new CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) facility to PCL Constructors Canada Inc. This project, which is valued at $1 billion, is set to take place at 675 McDermot Avenue in Winnipeg. The announcement signals the commencement of a rigorous pre-construction phase that is expected to emphasize design development, procurement planning, risk management, and ongoing engagement with stakeholders, as outlined in a recent release. Throughout 2026, project teams will be collaborating closely with various groups, including clinicians, staff, patients, families, Indigenous partners, technical advisors, and community stakeholders. The goal is to ensure that the new facility is designed to effectively address both current and future cancer care requirements in Manitoba. The new CCMB facility is designed to expand the space and capacity available for cancer treatment and testing. It will support the introduction of innovative treatments and create adaptable spaces that can respond to the evolving needs of clinical and research environments. Furthermore, it aims to promote modern, sustainable care models and enhance the support provided to patients and their families during their cancer journey. The facility will also strengthen research, innovation, and partnerships with universities and industry stakeholders. The project will be executed under a Manitoba Jobs Agreement, highlighting the province’s commitment to local job creation. PCL Constructors was selected for this significant project due to its extensive experience in delivering similar healthcare infrastructure projects across Canada and Australia, including the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne. As the project progresses, PCL will play a crucial role in the next phases of planning, design development, and construction readiness.
