PCL Construction has reached a significant milestone in its mass timber housing project in Yellowknife, marking the completion of the structural framework.

In Yellowknife, PCL Construction has achieved a key milestone by topping out a substantial mass timber housing project. The mobilization process for this undertaking commenced on March 3, with the structural components being manufactured off-site before their arrival later in March. This innovative project not only incorporates prefabricated mass timber construction but also integrates panelized wall systems and biomass heating. Upon completion, the housing project will comprise 50 units, including 25 barrier-free bachelor suites specifically designed for seniors and individuals, alongside 25 two-bedroom units intended for small families. The structural elements of the building were produced at the Kalesnikoff Mass Timber facility located in Castlegar, British Columbia.
