Saskatchewan Highways Minister Highlights Trio of Highway Improvement Projects

Saskatchewan is set to enhance its highway infrastructure with three significant roadwork initiatives in Ogema, Maymont, and Springside, with total investments amounting to over $16 million.

In Saskatchewan, Highways Minister Kim Gartner is urging drivers to exercise caution when approaching construction zones, as the province embarks on a series of highway improvement projects in the Ogema, Maymont, and Springside regions. These initiatives reflect a broader commitment to enhancing the safety and quality of the provincial road network.
One of the key projects includes the substantial repaving of Highway 13 in the Ogema area. This project, valued at approximately $11.5 million, involves resurfacing over 25 kilometers, which encompasses the access roads leading into both Pangman and Ogema. The gravel crushing phase for this undertaking commenced in early July, and roadwork is currently in progress. The completion of this project is anticipated by late fall, further improving the connectivity and safety of this vital roadway.
Additionally, in the Maymont area, work is underway on Highway 16, where more than 10 kilometers will be repaved. This project, valued at $4.4 million, is focused on the section of Highway 16 that runs southeast from its junction with Highway 376. The work is expected to be finished during this construction season, ensuring that the road remains in good condition for motorists.
Lastly, Highway 47 near Springside is also receiving significant attention, with an investment of around $1.9 million aimed at resurfacing more than eight kilometers of the highway from its junction with Highway 16 heading north. Roadwork for this project began on July 15 and is projected to be completed by this fall, contributing to the overall enhancement of the region's highway system.
These projects exemplify the Saskatchewan government's ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the infrastructure that is crucial for both local communities and the economy.
