OTTAWA — The Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) has officially announced the appointment of Scott Fash as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective December 7. In this pivotal role, Fash will spearhead CHBA’s initiatives aimed at representing Canada's residential construction sector on a national level, while also prioritizing the needs and goals of its membership, as highlighted in a recent release.
Fash comes to this position after six years as CEO of CHBA at the provincial level, having served with the Building Industry and Land Development Association of Alberta (BILD Alberta). CHBA president Curtis Mercer expressed confidence in Fash’s capabilities, stating, "Scott brings an outstanding combination of industry knowledge, policy expertise and leadership experience to CHBA."
Mercer emphasized the urgency of housing affordability and supply, which are among the foremost challenges facing Canadians today. He noted that Fash's extensive understanding of the obstacles within the industry, coupled with his proven track record of fostering collaboration between government and industry stakeholders to develop practical solutions, makes him particularly well-suited for this leadership role.
During his tenure at BILD Alberta, Fash has demonstrated his ability to work closely with various levels of government, industry leaders, and community stakeholders. His efforts have focused on critical issues such as housing supply, regulatory efficiency, municipal approvals, and building codes, all while striving to uphold housing affordability standards.
Fash is a Registered Professional Planner and has dedicated a decade to serving as a senior planning consultant, where he advised on both private and public sector development projects across Canada.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Fash stated, "I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead CHBA and work alongside our members and our local and provincial associations across the country. Canada’s residential construction industry has a critical role to play in addressing the country’s housing challenges."
He further articulated his commitment to building on the strong foundation of CHBA, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with members, government entities, and industry partners to promote policies that enhance housing supply, affordability, and the development of strong communities.
