On August 17, 2026, the City of Toronto proudly announced the opening of newly upgraded sports courts at Malvern Park, marking a substantial investment of $800,000 aimed at improving recreational opportunities and fostering community ties in Scarborough. The revitalization project encompasses the renovation of three tennis courts, the addition of four dedicated pickleball courts, two refurbished netball courts, and a volleyball court that is anticipated to be finalized by mid-August.This initiative addresses essential state-of-good-repair requirements, having been prioritized through the city’s budget process based on the current condition of existing facilities and the necessity to enhance access to recreational activities in a key neighbourhood. The project received support from Tennis Canada’s National Bank Play Your Court Program, which contributed a grant of $100,000 specifically for the renovation of the three tennis courts, ensuring they feature upgraded playing surfaces and new colour coatings.
These enhancements will enable local residents to enjoy modern and high-quality recreational amenities that promote active lifestyles. The outdoor sports courts at Malvern Park are accessible daily for public use, operating on a first-come, first-served basis, free of charge.
