WSIB Launches Business Safety Awards to Recognize Small Business Contributions to Workplace Safety

Small businesses in Ontario can win $20,000 by sharing their workplace safety improvements as part of WSIB's Business Safety Awards.

In a move aimed at promoting workplace safety among small enterprises, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has announced its Business Safety Awards, which will award five independently owned and operated small businesses in Ontario with $20,000 each. This initiative is specifically targeted at businesses that employ fewer than 50 individuals, encouraging them to share the innovative steps they have taken over the past year to enhance safety in their workplaces.
The WSIB is inviting small business owners to submit their stories detailing practical measures, creative solutions, or thoughtful approaches they have implemented to address health and safety challenges. According to a release about the awards, the WSIB aims to spotlight the significant role that small businesses play in fostering safer work environments across Ontario. Rod Cook, who serves as the vice-president of Workplace Health and Safety Services at WSIB, expressed the board's enthusiasm for recognizing the efforts of small businesses. "We know there are a lot of great success stories out there about small businesses that have raised the bar when it comes to workplace health and safety. We want to hear them and we want to share them to inspire others," Cook stated in a press release.
