Diane Gray Honored with CentrePort Canada Footprint Award for Transformative Leadership

Diane Gray, the founding president and CEO of CentrePort Canada, has received the second annual CentrePort Canada Footprint Award for her significant contributions to the development of North America's largest trimodal inland port, a project that promises to boost Manitoba's economy substantially.

WINNIPEG – The recent presentation of the second annual CentrePort Canada Footprint Award has recognized Diane Gray, the founding president and CEO of CentrePort Canada Inc., for her pivotal role in shaping the organization’s success. The award is bestowed upon individuals whose impactful contributions have significantly influenced the development of CentrePort. Gray was appointed as the founding president and CEO in 2009 after a comprehensive global search conducted by the board of directors. Her leadership spanned from 2009 to 2022, during which she was instrumental in crafting the master plan and strategy that transformed vacant fields into a successful tri-modal inland port.
Throughout her tenure, Gray secured a special planning area and collaborated with municipal governments to establish staged servicing plans for both CentrePort North and South. Additionally, she played a key role in advancing the development plan for the CentrePort Canada Rail Park alongside a private developer. "Receiving the CentrePort Canada Footprint Award is very meaningful to me," Gray remarked in a statement. "This award is a shared celebration of the vision and execution by so many private and public sector partners. It truly takes a whole province to see the potential and realize the opportunity for Manitoba’s economy and Canada’s future. I continue to be impressed by the investment in and the growth of the inland port and congratulate the CentrePort board and team for their ongoing leadership."
Since its inception, CentrePort Canada has evolved into one of North America’s largest trimodal inland ports, currently hosting over 1,000 companies. The project is expected to have a significant economic impact, with projections indicating that at full build-out, it will enhance Manitoba’s GDP by nearly $8 billion and create almost 100,000 person-years of employment, as noted in the announcement. The inaugural Footprint Award was presented to former Manitoba Premier Gary Doer last year, highlighting the ongoing recognition of leadership in the development of this vital economic hub.
